Dean Koontz - The Taking Synopsis: In Dean Koontz's The Taking, we see the world end through the lives of Neil and Molly Sloan, an ex priest and a novelist. Molly wakes up in the middle of the night. A heavy rain is flooding their land and a bunch of coyotes are huddled on her porch in fear. The Sloans are confused. They turn on the television and learn the all over the world, people are dying and the world as they know it are ending. They make their way to the center of the town and search for other survivors. From their, the novel progresses to creepy characters from Molly's past, weird creatures and a bunch of evil. No point in rehashing the plot. I've noticed, after reading the Odd Thomas series and a few other Koontz books, that he is often repetitive in his themes. He features dogs, priests and churches. Characters are often writers. No big deal, Koontz is a great writer and he can pull it off.
